Michael's practice focuses on the acquisition, financing, development, construction, leasing and disposition of a wide range of real estate projects for both institutional investors and entrepreneurial clients, including publicly held companies and REIT's. Michael has a broad range of experience handling all aspects of commercial leasing on behalf of landlords and tenants, purchase and sale transactions, sale/leaseback and real estate finance transactions. Michael's practice also includes the formation and representation of all entities common in real estate joint ventures, including limited partnerships, corporations and limited liability companies. Michael has negotiated numerous commercial real estate finance transactions on behalf of borrowers and lenders, including construction loans, mezzanine loans, fixed and adjustable rate loans, and real estate workouts. Michael has extensive expertise in loan defeasance transactions and tax deferred exchanges (including so-called "reverse exchanges").
Over the years Michael has represented numerous companies, entrepreneurs and institutions in connection with office, industrial, retail, mixed-use and residential income properties in real estate transactions all over the country, including sophisticated multi-property (and multi-state) portfolio transactions. Michael is a licensed California Real Estate Broker and he passed the examination to be a Certified Public Accountant.
